I can't get the music for a piece that I want sing. So, I'll do a version for myself in Lilypond. Problem is that I can't seem to tie between a crotchet and a quaver triplet. ie: I can't get the red in the pretty picture below... hmmmm.

Crown Imperial

I've been singing / humming Crown Imperial (William Walton) for the past day or two. Sunday lunchtime I went to Customs House (an old building in town) to hear the UQ Symphonic Band and the UQ Brass Ensemble. They were pretty good - played some good music. I recognised Crown Imperial - I think that I played it back in the old days (late 90's) and Moussorgsky's Great Gate of Kiev (although I prefer an orchestral sound than a band sound for this piece). It was a pretty popular gig - I only got a seat due to the fact that they put an extra row of chairs at the back of the room. Coincidentally we starting singing in choir (yesterday) one of the pieces played on Sunday...

I found out about the concert a brochure picked up at the art gallery the previous weekend. The exhibitions in there for this (second) trip of mine didn't grab me as much as my first visit there. Such is life, I suppose.

Pipes

Note to self. Being in the same room (i.e.: indoors) while bag pipes are playing is not really a wise idea...

Next Sunday (my first concert with the band) should be good.

:)

Money

A guy from the bank (that bank) came to talk to a lot of us about this. Could be a good idea. But to be beneficial I'd need a home loan.... Won't be getting that any time soon.

A couple of points -
* He wasn't to enthusiastic about Line Of Credit options. Apparently for a lot of people it isn't beneficial. From what I've heard (from others), it's people who are financially conservative / careful / disciplined who make it work. This would probably describe me... But I should check this out in more detail.
* I should check out my super more often
* Do I have income protection as part of it?
