Cheeky

One of the not so good points about my singing is that I concentrate hard (singing is a relatively new skill, I like to do well, so I concentrate), and tense my face and mouth muscles as a result. Apparently this ain't the best though. Having a tight embouchure with tight chin and lips may have been good for my clarinet playing, but isn't good for singing.

I need to be relaxed, enjoy the music (and funnily enough not concentrate on the notes...). This kind of ties in with "you play music you like better".

There's also something got to do with a lazy soft palate. So I need to smile using my cheek muscles more, and raise my eyebrows. It was fairly clear the better sound that was produced as a result. Hard not to laugh though...

So my signing lesson this afternoon was pretty enlightening - and funny...
