3 eggs
½ cup caster sugar
3 level teaspoons grated lemon peel
½ cup lemon juice
1 level tablespoon gelatine
1 cup cream, whipped
1/ Separate the egg yolks from whites. Everything will eventually get added to the bowl that the yolks get put in (ie: don’t use a small bowl).
2/ Beat egg yolks with sugar till thick and pale
3/ Add lemon peel
4/ In a small bowl soak gelatine in half lemon juice for 10 minutes
5/ Heat remainder of lemon juice (low heat) and stir into gelatine mixture until melted.
6/ Stir gelatine mixture into egg yolk mixture
7/ Whip the cream if you haven’t already
8/ Add cream, mix
9/ Whip egg whites until stiff
10/ Fold in egg whites carefully (ie: whipping them adds air and makes it light; we’re trying to keep it light)
11/ Pour into nice bowl and leave to set (leave in fridge overnight); (or, if you’re smart, use a nice bowl from the start to save some washing up)
Apparently this is an adaptation from Australian Home Journal Cookbook by Babette Hayes - 1972 Golden Press Ltd
Best to get 2 lemons; especially if you don’t have a juicer and you’re getting the juice out with your muscles and a fork.
Anyhow, it tastes good (apparently sort of like creamy lemon sorbet), just looks odd. The only suggestion that last night's guest made was to let it set in individual bowls, could make it look fancier.
This is good (ie: for indoor areas). Last night (ie: a week early), there was no smoking, which was good, as I don't feal sick from it, and I don't have smoke all through my clothes, etc. Yay.
My arm and shoulder hurts. I've been whipping cream and egg whites for what seems to be all of the evening (really, in total, probably just for 20 mins or so), by hand with one of those things which has ~10 loops of metal wire. What ever they're called.
Anyhow, I need to get:
* a chopping board (one - my flatmate's - is not enough)
* a couple of mixing bowls - metallic and maybe a plastic one
* an electric beater thingy that means I can whip to my hearts content by just holding it there.
(everything dishwashable)
PS: people that get annoyed at me prior to my birthday / christmas for not wanting stuff should take note of the above...
I've had this bit of paper hanging around my computer, in my 'to be actioned' pile for a while. It's just got some of my thoughts / memories of dad. I was thinking about these over the Christmas / new year period. For some strange reason, I don't want to loose these...
They're a bit random - they were just what was in my head at the time.

- table tennis in the garage - letting the other player loose (having the skill to beat the opponent easily, but not, and helping them learn).

So the other day I got a card from the feds with my new address confirmation. Apparently I'm in the federal division of Lilley. Run by a rooster, as they say. hehehe. Apparently it's a marginal labor seat... so my vote has more potential influence? (as opposed to a safe seat).

Apparently, according to Qtix, if you're 26, you're 'youth' and get cheaper tickets. Tops I say. (just saved ~$30).
And here I was thinking that I'm an oldie...
In case you're bored, own a clarinet, and what to annoy your neighbours, then try some of these fingering patterns for high notes.
Yesterday morning, after a sleep-in, I cruised around the internet (initially) and then some of the furniture places** around town (well, this side of town - I'm not going to Springwood), looking for a table and chairs.
I'm just after a small (~ 1 metre diameter) round table, that doesn't have a heavy feel to it. Needs to sit 4 or 5 people. Don't want to spend a fortune. I think that I found it, but is not ideal - would prefer a make that had black metal work (not silvery). But I think that I'll get the silvery one anyway (this morning) would seem to be the best option available.
Ohh, yesterday I discovered the Nundah branch of the Brisbane Library Service. Good.
QWAB gig in the early afternoon at the Botanic Gardens (Mt Coot-tha).
** for some reason I ended up a food place. The odds of finding tables / chairs in the meat aisle is minimal, I would suggest...
Last night (at St Andrew's in the city - nice accoustics) I went to a performance by Queensland Uni Musical Society of Gloria - Vivaldi and Dona Nobis Pacem - Vaughan Williams. Both went pretty well I thought. Both are good pieces of music.
A quieter evening was a good contrast from the previous night...
Interesting how QUMS is a pretty good non auditioned choir; open to members of the public.... hmmmm......
