Jogging, Knees

Well, I never actually did the Brisbane Half Marathon earlier in April. I got through about 2 weeks of training, however, towards the end of it, my knees were hurting too much, so I stopped training. I’ve been seeing a podiatrist and physio – they both said not to do the race, so I didn’t. Somewhere when I was running, I got new shoes, and since I’ve stopped running, been seeing a physio. They’re now happy with me (the right muscles are looser / stronger), and I’ll be getting new inner soles on Tuesday (all going well). Then I’ll be able to start jogging again. Fingers crossed.

I was pretty happy with the training that I did get through before I stopped. I got from quite an unfit state to doing 8km comfortably at 5 ½ minutes per kilometre after 1 week of training. Reasonably happy with that. Probably my walking kept up my endurance.

On the calendar are a few events: 10 km fun run at UQ in a fortnight’s time (this may be too soon to get used to my new inner soles?); Bridge to Brisbane (September 7), Brisbane half marathon – April 2009.
